What does having a Certification on the National Customs Assembly on Qualified Economic Operator implies?
It implies responsibility and distinction in which we have to be consequent. Our vision of the future is one of a Safer World, this means assuming risks that our governments or companies can’t take. Our country has compromised its resources in implementing solutions that may work with a low margin of error. The Uruguayan companies have to enlighten the World with an image of efficiency and safety that can attract investors and potential businesses. Companies such as ours have the adequate structure to assume the risks, take challenges and the flexibility to put themselves in action.
More than 20 years providing excellence to their customers. What has been the secret on your validity as a company over the years and what does make you different from the competitors?
For 20 years, when we created Miremar, the World was, in different aspects, very different from what we see it now. This was before the economic crisis of 2020, before the emergence of the smartphones and the 9/11 event. Since then, the opportunities in the market were limited, but we knew that we had the necessary foundations to keep on.
The challenge was how to go through it in a meaningful way, so it could generate loyalty in our clients.
In those past 20 years, our business has been centralized in establish firm ties with international operators of prime services, actively participating in international logistics hubs conferences. Our company has assumed responsibilities with its clients and has maintained, in some situations, without own income. The goal in all this is not only progress but is also to put all our power of our experience, effort, and resources that if they succeed will ensure our permanence.
In which way, the company accomplishes on building confidence with their clients and which processes you set up in place to assure the safety of the transported cargo?
The risks that we take are very different than the ones which take the real progress makers such as health workers that are facing epidemics o who go to support in war zones to vaccinate kids in need. What they do requires sacrifices that we can’t match and have this in mind, we try to honor them supporting with our job. Our duty in security is focused on the deep knowledge of our commercial partners and in the continuous update on the criminal modalities that may arise. We believe that the training is basic in this topic and more importantly is to share what we have learned.
What are the plans for Miremar in the medium-term and how you wish to finish this 2020?
The previous year, our company has invested in an important amount in technological updates, we know that the major weakness of every company is there: the Web. Globally speaking, we are satisfied with what we have achieved so far and we believe that the challenges that we assume have prepared us for future progress. For all this, we have started to work with companies in the pharma industry. When we started we got surprised to see all the issues and losses that happen on a global level because of falsification of medicines, bad transportation, manipulation of medical supplies, all these bring to outstanding millionaire losses. Because we didn’t see actions from the government or market trying to solve this issue, we decided to offer our good practice services for the distribution of these medical supplies. Our objective throughout this year is to demonstrate to our clients that this specialization is necessary and that Miremar is familiarized with these risks and that we can bring the best solution as a shipping company.
